Greg was born and raised right here on the west side of Evansville. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1981. He went on to graduate from Western Kentucky University with a B.S. in Recreation and M.A.E. in Counseling.
He worked in Higher Education for 10 years before leaving to serve as a missionary (Germany) for 5 years and then a Children’s Ministry Director for 8. He has also held counseling positions partnering with families through Child Protective Services as well as serving individuals with disabilities. He loves any and all types of sports and music.
Greg visited Catalyst for the first time about 3 years ago and has never left. He is now the Connections Coordinator and Associate Pastor. His passion is to share the good news of Jesus while serving and caring for people. You’ll find him on Thursdays serving at the Catalyst Food Pantry.
I am 67 years old and retired in September 2019 just before the pandemic. I am married to Jim Shoptaugh and we have two grown children. I love having a vegetable garden in the summer and love old movies from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
Several years ago Jim and I were looking for a church closer to home and saw some signs about CATALYST. Then one Sunday morning there was an article in the newspaper about CATALYST and Pastor Dave. I was familiar with the college that Pastor Dave and his wife Rachel graduated from so I felt very comfortable giving CATALYST a try. It is a very diverse group of worshipers. I have been attending now for seven years and love it!
I enjoy the preaching as well as the Bible studies that have been offered. Even at my age I have learned things that I did not know in the past. More importantly, I have been taught how to study and read my Bible!
I was married to Gary for 30 years until his death in 2003. I have one daughter, Brooke (Ben), a granddaughter, Morgan, two grandsons, Bryson & Bracken and a son, Jake. I was born and raised on the Westside and attended Reitz High School.
I visited Catalyst around 2013 after being invited by friends. I was immediately drawn to the uncomplicated, faith lead, Christ centered purpose of Catalyst. That, along with the community centered outreach that is at the heart of Catalyst, helped me to almost immediately know that I had found a new church home.
I spent my working years serving in various administrative assistant positions from which I retired in 2016. Now that I have the time, I am volunteering my skills to assist with administrative duties, as well as serving on the Assimilation Team to make sure that everyone that visits Catalyst feels welcome and those in the Catalyst family have the opportunity to serve in a ministry area. I am also a Community Group leader.
Knowing our value in Christ is life-changing. My heartfelt desire is that everyone realize their value in Christ rather than gauge their value according to the world’s standards.

Hi, my name is Susie Ingle. I am 60 something years old and mom to 4 grown children.
My husband Barry and I have been married for 23 years and counting and we have been blessed with 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. I work in small doctor’s office doing a variety of tasks. In my spare time like to sew and enjoy making small quilts and learning new skills.
I first heard about Catalyst Church when I was contacted about a truck that I had listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Too long a story to share here, but just ask if you’re interested in the full story. Definitely a tribute to how God can use anything to get us where he wants us to be!
I serve as the director in the Treehouse which serves the 2nd – 5th grade students of the Catalyst Children’s Ministry. I have served in children’s ministry for 10+ years serving children of all ages, but I especially love working with this older age group and watching them grow spiritually as they move from children into the preteen years. The Treehouse team works to plant the seeds of the gospel in the hearts of each child, so they begin to build a firm foundation in Christ before they enter the difficult teenage years.
What keeps me up at night? Not wanting any child to ‘fall through the cracks” and for every child to know that regardless of circumstances they have a Father in heaven who loves them and a community of people who care for them.
I also co-lead the Sunday afternoon community group and appreciate the time we spend as a group, learning and growing together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
One of my favorite bible verses is Psalm 46:10 because it reminds me that in the rush of everyday life that we need to slow down and seek God and His will for us. Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10a

WORSHIP & TECH
My name is Rachel Whitmore, and I serve as the worship director at Catalyst. This is a role I have filled for the last eleven years. I’m a 40-ish homeschooling mom, who loves to read, and I also teach piano. Some of my earliest memories are of watching the pianists in the church where I grew up. I knew I wanted to do what they were doing, so my parents got me into lessons, and just a few years later, I was one of several rotating pianists in my home church. Little did I know that interest would one day lead me to directing the music department in a church. One of my favorite things is to hear the people of God pouring out their hearts in worship to Him. It is what drives me to continue to show up and lead Sunday after Sunday.

Church Online Director
Hi! I’m Matthew Menke and I’m excited to see you’re here visiting our church site. I’m 29 years old and blessed to be married to my beautiful wife Lauren. We work hard to set a godly example for our two daughters and are thankful for God’s daily provision of strength and patience.
I am a Technology Enablement Lead at Ascension Technologies and focus on using technology to empower people instead of overwhelming them. My hobbies are having deep talks with friends, photography, pellet smoking, and learning about new technology.
I found out about Catalyst perhaps the same way you are right now. I googled “churches near me” and looked up the church mission statement and past sermon recordings. This helped me to understand Catalyst’s unique culture and core doctrinal beliefs. I have been attending here for about 3 years now. My wife and I lead the Wednesday night community group. We love our group and the richness and depth that each person brings with them! I also lead the church live stream team. Our team enables people to participate in church when they can’t be there in person – which has been especially important throughout the pandemic. I enjoy using my talents in technology to enable people to connect with each other in meaningful ways.
I have a burden to see my brothers and sisters unleash their full potential for Christ and grow the inner peace that Jesus offers us. Together we can disciple, encourage, and learn what it looks like to reflect the heart of our Creator.
First Impressions Lead
My name is Malissa Kincaid. I am 37 years old and have been happily married to Wayne Kincaid for a little over 9 years. We have a 5-year-old son named Bentley. I am a stay-at-home mom and love being available for my family and friends. We live in Grandview IN, which is about 45 minutes east of Catalyst.
We have been attending Catalyst since April 2011. My husband was sent a random Facebook message from Pastor Dave with an invite to attend. We accepted and have never stopped coming since.
I am the leader of the First Impressions team. I love being a part of this team, knowing that I can make that first impression into a lasting one that makes everyone feel welcomed and loved. Wayne and I also lead a community group in our home in Spencer County. We also volunteer with VBS every summer that has been possible. I have hopes to someday work with kids in the foster system. Children are our future and we need to help them any way that we possible can.
Usher Team Lead
My name is Alan Goad. I have attended Catalyst Church for about 10 years. I am a maintenance tech for a property management company. I’ve been married for 10 years to my lovely wife Penny. I have two pets – Otis and Polar Bear. At Catalyst I serve in the children’s ministry once a month and am part of the first impressions team. Since I have been at Catalyst I have a closer relationship with Jesus. I am not much of reader but was challenged by Pastor Dave one Sunday to start reading the Bible. I have several bibles that were all sitting at home collecting dust. I took the challenge and have since read the entire bible – from Genesis to Revelation – a few chapters per day. I love my church and love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

SCRUBS (Cleaning) Team Lead
Hello, my name is Brian Bulger. I’ve worked in the construction field most of my adult life. I have one daughter in her mid-twenties. I happened upon Catalyst 3 ½ years ago while coming home from another church service. I was looking for a new church home at the time and so after looking up the church’s statement of faith, I decided to add Catalyst to the list of churches to visit. Six months later I became a member. I am the Scrubs coordinator which oversees the cleaning of the church on a weekly basis by our four fantastic volunteer teams. Our Scrubs teams have great fellowship together while serving to get the building ready for services each week. I also occasionally teach classes and am currently discipling a small group of men. It’s wonderful to see God at work in our lives, bearing spiritual fruit, and transforming us year by year into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
